Eden is a craft soda brand designed to meet the needs of the clients who want to differentiate themselves from other craft soda companies and show they are both healthy yet great tasting. Eden draws attention to just that.

It highlights the brand’s healthy standpoint compared to the current, very sugary alternatives, that are a “sin” for your health. This soda is a take on the original sin itself – Eve’s experience in the Garden.

Eden’s logo pulls directly from the Original Sin Story

Eden’s logo is a mix of the serpent and the forbidden fruit. The snake follows an organic flow creating the shape of an apple, seeds creating the eyes.

Research

Adam and Eve are figures from the creation myth in the Abrahamic religions, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. According to the story, they were the first man and woman created by God and lived in the Garden of Eden. They are often depicted as the progenitors of all humanity.

Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden, a paradise created by God. They were given one rule: not to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. However, tempted by a serpent (often interpreted as Satan), Eve ate the fruit and then convinced Adam to do the same. As a result, they disobeyed God's command and gained knowledge of good and evil, which led to their banishment from the Garden of Eden. This event is often referred to as the Fall of Man and is seen as the origin of sin and suffering in the world, named “the original sin”.

Jordan’s fun fact no one asked for: The forbidden fruit is most popularly known to be represented as an apple. However, the Hebrew Bible describes the forbidden fruit as peri, the term for general fruit. So no one actually knows what it is - some speculate it was a pomegranate.

Process

Eden’s Packaging was being pulled into two different directions.

The can version focused on the fruity tropical side of the healthy drink option. Its logo and design would focus on Eve and plants. The bottle option would focus on the fact that you could see the colorful soda, with its darks pulling from traditional catholic gothic styles and details. Ultimately the decision I went with was the clear option, it opened the door to a deeper look into the story behind the bottle and a chance to change the meaning behind it that highlights the brand’s best qualities.

Each bottle follows Eve’s story of temptation. “Eden” however creates a more positive outcome of the biting the forbidden fruit, just as you will when choosing this healthier option over other sodas. There is “no guilt in this temptation”. All encased in a clear bottle that highlights the soda’s unique colors.
